You might be a good fit for therapy if with me if:
You've spent years putting others' needs ahead of your own and now are ready to take up space, reconnect with yourself, and relearn your own needs. Maybe you are a recovering "people-pleaser.”
You're a high achiever who pushes hard and often find yourself on the edge of burnout, and you are not sure how to slow down without losing your identity.
You struggle with regulating emotions, either too much or too little, and this is getting in the way of deep and meaningful relationships.
You're questioning the meaning or direction of your life and may be wondering, "'What's the point of anything?" You may be feeling stuck or unmotivated.
You have a complex life experiences and are having a hard time figuring out who you are and where you fit in this world. Maybe you have felt like an “outsider” much of your life.
Therapy Approach
My therapy approach utilizes themes and techniques from person-centered, existential, and post-modern theories. This means we will focus on:
Building a strong and trusting relationship.
Exploring your values, strengths, and sense of purpose.
Empowering you to reclaim your story and sense of self.
Making meaning of your life experiences.
Practicing self-compassion and building capacity.
Techniques I Use
Narrative Therapy: Explores the stories you carry about your life and the meaning you assign to those stories. We will work on reframing limiting beliefs and rewriting those stories with strength, resilience, and self-agency.
Self-Compassion Theory: Focuses on self-kindness over self-judgement, common humanity over isolation, and mindfulness. We will learn to quiet the inner critic while also building emotional resilience.
Acceptance and Commitment Theory: Focuses on accepting emotions and accepting your circumstances instead of trying to control them, while also committing to make the changes necessary to get your life to align with your core values.
CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy): Helps you understand where your thoughts are coming from and uncovering core beliefs and core messages that shape the lens that you see the world through. You will learn how your brain processes emotion, makes decisions, and creates behaviors.
Parts work or IFS (Internal Family Systems): Helps you to understand the different parts of yourself and who you are and how these parts influence your emotions and behaviors.
Mindfulness: Focuses on being aware and present in the moment without passing judgements in order to build clarity and emotion regulation.
